Hi Everyone

I just got my first ticket for parking in the neighborhood south of Sunrise, in between Mill Rd and Rockaway Ave. There were no sings on the street but I was cited for parking more than 4 hours in one spot! The funny thing is, I parked in this spot for months without issue and just got my first ticket.

I need to park somewhere relatively close to the train (less than 1 mile walking) and I don't want to pay for the $$$ parking permit.

Does anyone know any side streets where I could park?

Were you parking on the dead-end streets and walking through Mill Pond to Sunrise? It's only a matter of time before the cost of parking tickets tops the cost of a parking permit. You might want to try parking a few blocks farther (south) from the station and lengthen your walk so as not to appear as an obvious commuter, but even then you'll eventually get ticketed.

As someone who has lived within walking distance of both the VS and Gibson LIRR stations, I can tell you that commuters parking on the residential streets stick out like sore thumbs, and tickets are a near certainty. And any non-residential areas around the VS station are closely monitored by code enforcement.

You are correct, the dead end streets with no signage.

I am thinking of just taking the lirr in from Rosedale and parking on the street where I won't be bothered by ticketing agents
