Any of you who have lived and/or worked in Commack back in maybe the early 1970's, I seem to remember a diner on Route 25 almost directly north of where the Candlelight Diner sits today. I know the Candlelight is on 454 in front of the shopping center, but the one I remember was on 25 in the same general area. Am I remembering correctly and do you know the name of the diner and what is located there today?
I do not recall a diner being on the north side of the road but I was very young then. I do recall the RKO Twin, Commack Drive-in, Long Island Arena, Korvettes, Pergament, etc. in the area of the shopping center.
There was a diner east of Kings Park Road on Jericho Turnpike. There was a shooting where someone shot a customer through the window as he was eating. The owners name was Louie and at that time he was connected to the Candlelight dineer through his child being married to the owner of the Candlelight diners child.
You might be thinking of the "Hollywood diner" which sat at the end of 454(veterans hwy) on the north side of route 25(Jericho tpke). I'm looking for a picture of the diner for a class reunion if anyone can help.

Thanks, that sounds right for location and name. Sorry I can't help with picture. What is in that location currently?
Yup, there was a classic stainless steel diner where the Roslyn Savings Bank is on Rt. 25. Back in the day, the Long Island Ducks hockey team played at the LI Arena, right up Vets from the diner. The diner had this neat illuminated sign of a duck playing hockey.
Yes the Hollywood diner was a stainless steel diner. My father worked the griddle from roughly 1967-1971. those were some great years.
