Not surprised at all considering the new contract, its just not the cash cow that it used to be. Maybe now more applicants will be those actually interested in a LE Career rather than a pay day.
Maybe they are catching on that 30,000 apply, 100 get hired and half of those are veteran NYPD officers.
The test is given every 4 years and the County hires roughly 100-200 cops a year. That's not including any of the Town or Village PD's. But yes, your point is right...odds aren't very good.
They still have too many applicants for the job. Keep reducing the salary until supply meets demand. Let's save the taxpayers some money!
