Hi,

In the forum we can read tons of threads about is this place good or not for a family to settle in. Lots about school districts with even some amazing rankings made by forum users. But many times I miss a historic or a future-prediction trend. You settle in town X, have kids, and 12-15 years later they will go to high school there. How would town X be by then? We, obviously, don't know, but, on the other hand, there are trends that might indicate somehow where that place is going.

For example, we all can read endless articles in the NY Times about gentrification of certain areas of Brooklyn. Poor neighbourhoods being demolished with luxury apartments. That's what, in this context, I would consider Going Up. On the other hands, places that used to have the appearance of being great to settle in, might not be like that anymore, for whatever reasons.

So, I was wondering if folks here have opinions of places in Long Island that are clearly going Up or Down (not need to talk about places that stay in similar way) and why.

Thanks,

Regards,
Hipo
