Anyone have a recommendation for a manufacturer of an entry door replacement? i want the look of a quality wood door with sidelights. My house's entry is directly exposed to the outside and I've been advised not to go with wood since it would require routine maintenance. That being said, can some recommend a quality fiberglass door? Has anyone had bad experiences with a fiberglass door over time (color fading, warping..). A wood door can be refinished but I'm not sure how to maintain a fiberglass door if needed besides painting over the wood grain look (which i wouldn't be happy with).

If you add a storm door, the temperature between the two doors can melt any plastic embossing on the inside door.

I don't think that would be an issue with fiberglass, only the metal doors with the plastic around the glass.

They recommend no storm door with fiberglass either for the same reason with trapped heat (and it wouldn't look good). Check out Jeld-wen as a good fiberglass door. Windowrama carries them. No issues with ours after 5 years so far, but we have a portico for cover.

We recently replaced our front door with a Therma Tru fiberglass door with two sidelites. Nice door.

One bit of advise, stay away from Windowrama, horrible experience. They will blame you when anything goes wrong.

Second bit of advise do not let anyone rip out your old door before you have possession of your new door and measure twice.

Good luck.

I'll second therma-Tru. Higher quality and any local lumber yard would be able to have for you within a week.

Put in a Feather River door purchased at Home Depot. 7 years later it still looks new.

Unified Windows, Doors, And Siding just did my front doors and I couldn't be happier. They have an installer who does nothing but doors. Anyone who's ever tried to do a door installation knows that doors are a BIG pain, and this man is an artist at it.

I was looking at the Jeld Wen door and their Aurora series with Windowrama. I'll rethink Windowrama based on this thread... Thanks
