Going out this weekend with a couple we are just starting to get to know.
Any restaurant recs spanning from north shore to south shore off exit 62, and from about the Sag to 112?

We arent picky but just a place with good food and somewhat quiet to sit an talk for a while.
Don't need $$$$ pricing but $$ or $$$ is fine. Its more about spending time with new friends, not screaming to talk and not quipping about the food and the looks of the place.

We did Bahama Breeze in Lake Grove a few weeks ago and it was decent food and nice atmosphere.

Places like Cheesecake Factory and Carrabba's are bit too loud for what I want. Went to Beirhaus in Patchogue last year, couldnt hear anyone and the food totally sucked. ...good beer and mustard pretzel bread things though.
Boulder Creek was okay when it was on 347, then we did Insignia once and it was just too over the top for us.

Right across from Bahama Breeze is Ragazzi Italian Kitchen and Bar, I recommend them very highly. The Lake Grove Diner is terrific, too. La Cappannina Italian restaurant in Holtsville is very nice, and quiet, very good food.

One main in Babylon village is nice, great food, not too loud. Don Riccardo's in Babylon village if you like Mexican is another great choice.

Mirabelle - either the restaurant (a bit more high end) or Tavern (more bistro like) for French food. Not cheap but not horribly expensive and not "look at me, look at me" like Insignia.

The Lake Grove Diner does have good food and you never really have to worry if they'll have something everyone will like.

Also try Dave's BBQ which is next to Carabba's on 347.

Can you really go wrong with the Good Steer in Lake Grove?

Beat me to it! Amazing burgers. Went all the time when I lived over there. I'd also recommend Relish on the corner of Pulaski and 25A in Kings Park.

Couldn't disagree more about the Lake Grove diner. Worst service in Suffolk County.

The new diner on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma is very good. The service is excellent and the portions are huge. It's across from the Nathans about 1 mile west of Nicholls Road.

Really? service was always fine and I used to go there probably once a month. Nothing amazing but not horrible. Pricey, though.
