How absurd! Last week the statement was $50,000 to repair pool filter justifies $36 Million Bond for aquatic center.
What is NOT addressed is what are the maintenance costs long range as I recall the center that was put up by Nassau County caused a MAJOR budget hole.
1. We have a pool in the high school.
2. $50,000 filter replacement or a $36 million bond
3. What is the long term budget impact of the MAINTENANCE???
4. Why on the 25th of October and NOT coincident to SCHOOL BUDGET Vote, Fire Department Budget, Or November 8th. Mr. Managano tried similar fast one Wang bailout when he scheduled in August.
5. Remember this when the School Budget Vote comes in May and vote the bums out.
What was not disclosed was how much the school budget would increase in the out years to facilitate maintenance and operation of this "first on Long Island School District Aquatic Center".
See Nassau County Aquatic Center on Merrick Avenue. 2002 built for $30 million. Fees charged and operations costs were according to an article circa 2002 were $1million annually.
That is with fees charged.
OOOPS we are so stupid.
DALERS perhaps need a better EDUCATION in budgeting because this
is going to be a disaster for the taxpayers.
Seems the voting taxpayers in district after district these past few years are supporting budgets and bond expenditures. If this sort of bond is going to pass, I am predicting another landslide of 'yes' votes here on Long Island for the upcoming school district budget votes.

I don't get it, and most likely it will be the beginning of yet another wasteful trend, now that every school has synthetic football fields, special rooms for the dance squad, and the best fitness equipment money can buy.
Farmingdale is the smartest town on LI right now. Exploding downtown, home prices booming, allowing development so lower taxes, building gorgeous athletic complexes and fields. Life, growth, development. Hell of a lot better than ToH building nothing but banks and malls (but stealing the taxes with abatements and credits so the taxpayer gets the shaft) and Nimby any beneficial development to death. Bye bye Islanders.
If you're not growing you're dying. LI needs to learn that basic business principle.
Kudos to Farmingdale for having balls and ambition.
Even planned horribly and falling apart, the aquatic center is one of the only beneficial iconic features in all of Nassau County. Sad, isn't it?

At least it's something tangible for your tax money as opposed to the usual funding of a draft dodger's luxurious retirement in Florida.
