On Oct 4th the order was signed.....what can I expect? I have been here 8 months. I rent the top floor....landlord is in bottom half of house. I found out it is an illegal apt and in foreclosure in May. I had no idea it was this far along in process. Do I still pay them rent?

His foreclosure and your (illegal) apartment are two separate issues.

you've been there for 8 months, so your 1-year agreement/lease (?) is up either in February or March--before the property is being sold. Unless the Town comes and tells you to get out (or someone else from a governmental department), your agreement is not affected. Your knowledge gives you plenty of time to look around for another rental.

You're still living there, why would you stop paying rent unless you're moving out?

The landlord is not required to inform you of the status of his mortgage. As long as the landlord owns the property, are required to continue to pay rent to him.

If your landlord is anything like the deadbeat I went after in court, he will file bankruptcy 24-48 hours before the auction, delaying the inevitable.

Wow really? I think if a house was in foreclosure and there were tenants, the tenants should have a right to know.
