Just got off the phone with my sister who lives in S. Farmingdale (Nassau)
She said her property taxes just went from 14k to 16k
She lives in a BASIC 1600 SF Split near Farmingdale H.S.
Nice area, but NOT worth 16k in property taxes. I just got raised $400 more per year. I live near Holtsville . I just hit over 8k. Sad when anything below 10k is considered cheap!
Maine is looking better & better! Much nicer than Long Island, Without the price!
Sure, a bit colder. However, log cabin on a lake & fireplace, I’m good!

Wow! I'm going to Maine! Currently searching properties & areas. We're gonna build there.
I'm a New England guy. I prefer well defined seasons. No south for me.
Too many transplants down south anyway.
I guess I got out of Nassau in the nick or time.
I'd be in full meltdown mode right now if I were still there. I was paying a little over 11k a year for a no frills cape on 60x100.

Nicer than the Hamptons WITHOUT the attitude or PRICE!
used to camp up at Rangeley in summer , ski at Sugarloaf in winter.
The mosquitoes and gnats were memorable on summer evenings. It gets cold in winter up there like I have never known. That said, that part of Maine is beautiful if you like the outdoors.
