Just buy another brand that fits through the holes in the sink. If a part breaks, its time for a new one.

Not always so easy as OP may really like the faucet. It may be one of those high loop faucets that you can fit larger pots and pans under (which I prefer over the ones that hang low over the sink). Those can be expensive.

Parts for expensive faucet is also expensive. Usually the expensive faucets are pretty sturdy unless you got ripped off. But Moen is a name brand. They are not ripoffs. If one piece wears down, another likely will sooner. May as well change whole thing at his point.

It turns out I was a knucklehead!
It actually is a Delta faucet.
Bought a replacement part at HD for ~15 bucks.
Now I feel like a civilized person, no leaky faucet!

FYI Moen products seem to leak more than others. Between 2 showers and a vanity faucet, I've had to replace 4 or 5 cartridges over the last 10 years. Each time free because I ordered everything from faucetdirect and it has order history I use as proof. They make you wait for a 7-day shipment while leaking though, unless you want to pay for expedited shipping.
