Quick history lesson for the younger folks: I was born in 1953. Had to hide under a desk in 1962 (nuclear war threat). Almost drafted in 1971 (too many died for nothing). Survived the 70's in NYC (crime out of control). Jimmy Carter and Ronnie Reagan both made for misery for different reasons (gas lines and poverty for many). Prospered in the 90's under Clinton (I was lucky, many didn't). Survived the crash under Bush (still like him personally). God bless Obama (good man). FDT. Repeat, FDT (worst president ever). All Lives Matter. BLM of course. So do blue (let's agree on this). Covid was a cluster Fk. Wore the mask everywhere. Got the shot. Survived COVID (my Dad didn't). Praying for everyone.

Because the virus uses unvaccinated people to mutate new variants. There's a problematic variant circulating now called Delta.
I got the single J&J shot, and accept the reality that boosters will be needed. After 600,000 deaths and numerous survivors with "long covid," I don't need convincing.
Everyone working in a healthcare setting should be required to be vaccinated. Would you want an unvaccinated nurse, a possible source of a virus mutation, hovering over you while you're in a sick and vulnerable state? No, thanks.
Where I am, there's a high vaccination rate, but masking is at the store's discretion. Kroger supermarkets here made masking optional for those vacciated. They use the honor system (uh-oh).
600k deaths, the overwhelming majority above 75 years of age and/or with significant comorbidities.
Endless threats of variants that end up being nothing.
Cloth masks that did nothing to prevent transmission of an airborne virus.
Vaccines that are not FDA approved and whose manufacturers are given legal protection from lawsuits.
Extraordinarily high numbers of deaths and side effects reported to VAERS (which itself captures only a tiny fraction of side effects).
People advocating the vaccination of children who have virtually no risk from Covid, but who can suffer the side effects of the vaccines.
Politicizing the virus to oust a president hated by half the country (and most of the political and financial power base), and now having to walk back prior dodgy claims about the origin of the virus, the effectiveness of masks and alternative drug treatments, and the lethality of the virus itself.
Utterly ignoring the monumental effects of lockdowns which include a wrecked western economy, funneling money to big corporations at the expense of the middle class, record suicides, domestic violence, and drug problems, seniors being left alone to die in hospitals, stunted social and educational development for children, the present supply shortages and inflation problems, and a host of other maladies.
And you wonder why people don't trust or care anymore. Stick your masks and your booster shots where the sun fails to shine.
The proper response to this virus was exactly what was noted in the Fauci email FOIL release - protect the old and vulnerable, and let the rest of society lead their lives just like they do with the flu.
