Leasing not buying, hence why people lease they can't afford the payments to buy but can when it's leased.

A 330i is 45k to buy to lease it's 3k down $399 a month plus whatever leases fees are added.

That’s not always true. Leasing is great for some reasons. 3 years I can give the car back and walk away and choose another car. If the car gets hit or damaged and it’s not totaled I’m not stuck with it thankfully. Once again I can walk away at the end. Of if it gets totaled during the lease I once again walk away.

You may be confusing leasing and purchasing (via loan).

Lots of those newer cars one sees on the road and in lots are leases. (An earlier poster was confused about newer cars in parking lots).

What professions are so high paying on LI that generates so much demand that just about everyone home is expensive? I always hear people struggling with housing costs on LI. There are no boom industries on LI except speculating on housing.

I’m confused then. This says you own both, not leases. Then you went on about a $50k car. I was assuming the cars you bought were $50k.

But whatever. People buy what they feel is affordable.

This is the million dollar question. According to many on this forum all the jobs pay $60k max. But we know there are tons of jobs out here that pay $100k+

Other than govt jobs? I know a lot of Wall Street fat cats live on North Shore with second home in Hamptons. But I guess that does not count as LI jobs.

I replied to another post and mentioned leases. I own both my cars, they weren't 50k combined both where purchased at 1yr old and under 8k miles from private party sellers.

Doctors, lawyers, nurses, successful small business owners, architects, certain classes of Union and non union trades, employees at white collar companies like cannon or Estée Lauder (amongst other smaller companies), successful sales/real estate people, white collar bank employees. The whole notion there is nothing but 50k jobs on LI is false.

It’s not really 3k down though, after all the state tax, registration, destination and dealer fees are added up it will probably be 6k + as signing to get that payment. Money due at signing on the website never includes those fees ever (it’s always in the fine print). That’s to get people in the door
