Maybe we could rezone some of those dead commercial spaces into affordable housing for young people instead of giving tax breaks to companies like Amazon to build warehouses that pay minimum wage.

That’s because 30 year interest rates are well below 3%
If they were 6-7% (10-15 years ago) people wouldn’t be able to borrow as much. Basically FREE money when you factor in inflation & mortgage deductions (Yes, it’s limited)

much worse than anyone running for office these days describes it. I stated simple truths and some get sooooo defensive. Apparently the stats look less than great. Not my fault. Yes, we have rich and poor and middle class happy people. We also have 50+ % living with an economic sword of damacles over their head and the stress that goes with it. Wasn't that half the reason you guys claim Trump got elected?!? Now it's just my negative spin? In 2016 LI was nothing but "carnage" and a "bad" Obama economy (false). But when I criticize it, I'm just jealous and made bad life choices.

Most of you would Moderator cut: language removed if you saw there PAY. Now that is for 182 DAYs. Now remember the teachers of today are not those of when we were schooled. They now have assistance every day, every class. Most make way over what our Police officers make.

There always have been, always are, and always will be people who find LI unaffordable.

One can say that for every region of this country.

Unaffordable is one way to put it. Homeowners being fleeced rotten is another. Fetishizing police and teacher unions and voting yes, yes, yes on every cost increase is a LIism. Complaining about it and blaming the wrong entities is also a LIism. Personally I find being robbed unaffordable. Otherwise, LI is swell.

What do you think teachers should get paid, for teaching in LI schools, living on LI?

Why can’t they work all year around, keep their salary with vacation time. Take the time during the summer to improve their teaching skills via educational classes. They always say their goal is to be the best for the kids.
