“In anticipation of a shortage of firefighters, NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit has requested the help of volunteer firefighters from Long Island and upstate to back fill the lost positions, according to an email obtained by The Post.”
Long Island has the resources to cover for nyc’s shortages now? 6 months garden city lost 3 residents in a house fire. The entire side of the county was in westbury for a massive fire at the garbage collection.
“It was a taxing 24 hours for the volunteer fire departments all over Nassau County, as several aggressive unrelated fires. In addition to Westbury and Garden city, two propane tanks on the side of a home in East Meadow exploded, terrifying residents.”
How’s this sit with residents ? I’m curious if nyc will be paying for the services ? Would vaccine passports be required before crossing the city border on the way to a fire?

I'd be willing to bet, my old volunteer fire department, has minimal vaccinated volunteers. The sheer stupidity of them being asked to help, is mind blowing. How anyone can say this isn't a power trip, is beyond me.
Nassau's mutual aid plan for NYC covers single catastrophic incidents, not sustained coverage. The Chief Fire Marshal who is also Fire Coordinator for the County already denounced the rumors.
That said, for as many volunteers who would sit aside to support FDNY who were put on leave, just as many would probably line up to do scab work so they can say they got to play FDNY for a day.
And I agree with an earlier posting, many volunteers also lokely remain unvaccinated. That will become an issue when the municipalities that support their operations begin to mandate, or NYS begins to require Vax for attendance at the required training courses or EMT classes/recertification.
