Here on the North Shore of Nassau County we have multiple flocks of geese numbering between 500 to 1000. I can hear the honking in the middle of the night as they move amongst the golf courses, ponds and sumps.

Anybody else out there notice an inordinate number of geese in their area?

Slightly off tangent, but I just started golfing this year. Is there a public golf course on LI that is not full of geese poop? Bethpage seemed to have the least.

They're not going to decrease in numbers any time soon.

"All Canada geese, including resident flocks, are protected by Federal and State laws and regulations. In New York, management responsibility for Canada geese is shared by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the DEC."

Their population won't be decreasing any time soon because of the NIMBYs who buy homes near the water and complain about waterfowl hunters. They're also the ones complaining about goose poop or aggressive geese when they take Tabitha and Tad to feed the ducks.

Here's the Canada Goose Season Map for NYS.
