I will be travelling to Long Island to attend an event and have never been to New York before. The event is at a friend's house in Deer Park. I am planning on staying at a local hotel/motel. Where should I avoid? I don't want my BMW to be stolen.

There are very few slums left on the island. Deer Park homes cost 500k + . Freeport is by the water. Neither is dangerous at all.

Your car will be there in the morning, your catalytic converter, maybe not.

Just kidding! LI is about as safe as you can get, even in the so-called "hoods".

Bmw are really not a big deal here, you can’t go more than 8 cars w/o seeing one.

Good. I don't want to be a target for carjacking. Back in the 1980s I made the mistake of driving a Japanese car to a steel town in Pennsylvania. I got all kinds of looks by the residents.

Freeport and Deer Park are suburban communities with 6 figure median household incomes. They are quite different from a steel town in PA and are more in line with where you live in VA.

Thats funny because now all "foreign" cars are built here in the USA and the USA brands are built in Mexico
