The problem is so large and so predictable it’s almost like President Biden did this on purpose.

And for anyone who does not think it is suitable for habitation. It is close enough because it is structure for pedestrian to spend extended time in. The structure is quite suitable. The finishes not so much, but that can be changed.

Blakeman cant control federal or state income taxes or FICA.

Blakeman cant control school taxes. The only tax he has any control over is the county part of the sales tax and property taxes

He does, and it's created the NY gov vs NYC mayor circus show for the public.

A dozen? How many anchors can a mall have? Well whatever they develop, there is only so much room it on LI. Otherwise it will just be the same thing. Stay open a few years and shut down again. So I am sure there be empty malls all over. These superstructures are over developed and never should have existed in the first place. One or two sure, but not as many as we have.

Pretty much they closed the indoor mall area but there are businesses on the outside of the mall that are all still open. Macy’s, Dave and busters, Dick’s, home goods to name a few (there are others IIRC I haven’t been down there in awhile). It’s likely the old mall will be demoed at some point and become some sort of mixed shopping/medical/commercial type site. It’s not zoned for residential.

And totally agree about malls, I don’t think they are going away but the days of having 3, 4 or 5 malls in a region is long over.

Right now it's all one big game of chicken. Hochul won't move migrants to LI, Westchester nor upstate unless, if, when or until ordered by federal courts or some other authority. Adams OTOH has a huge problem on his hands that isn't getting any better.

Governor and rest of democrats in Albany are eyeballing November 2024 elections where congressional seats will be up for grab. They don't want a repeat of last election and indeed are seeking to take back seats lost to GOP that time around. As such Hochul isn't about to hand state GOP party a club to beat democrats about the head with.

“Governor Murphy Refuses to Accept NYC Migrants after Vowing to Make New Jersey ‘Sanctuary’ State”

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/...nctuary-state/

He never thought a woke virtue signal would make him look phonier than ever. NYT runs cover for the woke crew so you won’t find much coverage there.
