Wanted to know if a parking permit is required for the Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Seaford or Wantagh LIRR train stations. Do they charge any fees? Also, which station is it better to park in? That is with trains leaving between 5 and 6 am. Thank you.

You need a sticker from the Town of Oyster Bay to park in Massapequa (although you can park on Sunrise Highway for free). You need to be a resident of Massapequa Park to park there. They do let non residents buy permits there, but only if there are permits left after town residents had purchsed their yearly stickers. Seaford is free I believe, and Wantagh I'm not sure. all of these stations have parking restrictions for the streets surrounding the stations, so parking for free (close that is) is not really an option. Same goes for the streets on the south side of Sunrise.

I'm confused. I used to park in Massapequa all the time and I never had a parking permit..
There are a limited number of spaces available at Wantagh which dont require a sticker. I used to take a train from there at 6 am and was always able to get one of those spots. They are located under the train tressel. Just watch out for the spots with a lot of pigeon droppings.
Only problem you may have is if the spots are full there are not any other options. I think they fill up just a little later so be sure to check it out.
You need a ticket to park in the Massapequa Park station. Its easy to get if your a resident of Massapequa Park, but if your not, its pretty expensive and has a several year waiting list. I am in the Mass. PK zipcode, but not technically in the village so I can't park there, actually drive past it every morning.
At the Massapequa station you need a permit in most areas, as long as your a Town of Oyster bay resident its cheap (about $10 for a year or something along those lines). Some areas you don't need a permit for, the lot near the baseball field is one. It feels up pretty quickly, but should be fine to park in as early as you are leaving. You also don't need a permit if you park along Sunrise Highway, though parallel parking on Sunrise Highway might not be the easiest thing to attempt, though leavingg as early as you are, its quite a bit easier than if you were leaving an hour or two later.

The permit wasn't specifically for the station, but a Town of Oyster Bay parking permit. Also it depends on where and when you parked, but for most of station lots you do need a permit.

To Nancy the Reader, WOW that is a lot to pay monthly just to park in addition to the monthly train fare. I wonder how we all manage to still live on the island, with all the expenses we incur?
