I think the LIRR does have some advantages over NJT. ALL LIRR trains go into Penn, which not all NJT trains do. LIRR is also a denser network covering a smaller area, so in quite a bit of NJ you're stuck with the bus.

That's true, but if they don't go to Penn they stop in Secaucus and you can just transfer. It takes only a few minutes.
Actually, I should change that, because while all lines go into Penn, not all trains do--some stop at Jamaica, which is the same headache as changing at Secaucus (and it is a hassle, I've done it). So, mea culpa.
yeah i guess you are right, i maybe a lil biased since i have lived on LI my entire life and i have lots of options when it comes to LIRR - i've been to many stations, floral park, nassau blvd, new hyde park, mineola, williston park, valley stream.
but i guess when its further out LI, the delays could be hefty.
sorry didn't think of that!
I also like the fact that you have multiple options in NJ - choice of train, bus, ferry or driving. in LI it's pretty much LIRR or driving... and if the LIRR Is having trouble... well, you know.
There seems, however, to be a widespread tendency for people in other parts of the United States to refer to these characters as "Jersey Guidos,"and I'm not quite sure how this misconception got started.

I like how the NJ PATH trains operate in Manhattan precisely because they do not only go to Penn Station, so you can get to different parts of town without transferring to the subway:
33rd St (near Penn Station)
23rd St
14th St
9th St
Christopher St
Also, coming from the other direction they stop at World Trade Center (RIP)
the jersey shore from Memorial day to Labor Day speaks for itself. NJ Guidos are basically low rent versions of NY guidos...which is sad on several levels.
Yea, the entire Jersey shore!
Thanks for letting me know you get your cultural references from MTV.
Half of the Jersey shore towns are filled with a Philly/NJ mix.
You have no idea what you are talking about do you?
