We would like to install Central Air in our house this spring. Any good, or bad experiences with installation companies would be appreciated. We have a 3 bedroom ranch with a full attic. House is in Smithtown.
Don Peterson (Petersen?) has been in the central air business since 1969 - my dad was his first customer. I believe he installs AC in your area and is still in business in the St. James area. I would definitely recommend him - he's an upstanding type man, very polite, will not rip you off. Central AC isn't an inexpensive endeavor and has to be installed correctly, etc., and he will do an excellent job.
We used Kolb. They did a very good job, but I didn't feel I had as much input or respect as I'd have liked (where vents go, etc). I felt a bit rushed and that they made decisions I might not have had I more time to think or discuss. Again, good job but attitude problem.
Flynn Aire in Kings Park did my home, my office, and I refer Bob to clients all over western Suffolk.
Petersen is in the Flowerfield Industrial Park in St James. I've never used him, but I have met both the father and son on several occasions and they are regular, no-nonsense types.
I used Cool Power in Hauppauge for one job. They were decent, no real complaints.
Thank you for all your replies. I looked at Cool Powers website, liked what I saw. I will also give Flynn and Mr. Peterson a call.
You're welcome.
We've had Flynn Aire do some straight up, routine type installs as well as some very difficult ones involving historic homes and poorly laid out houses.
One thing to bear in mind as well is the company's follow up if you need service down the line. Flynn Aire has been great with the follow ups and routine servicing as well.
