Selden schools are in the middle country district which is a good district. If you want to know about specific parts of the town feel free to ask. Some parts of Selden are better then others but none horrible.

Its an OK area.

They have some horrible and deadly traffic issues along 25 in Centereach and Selden.

IMHO, dollar for dollar, you may do better elsewhere.

Crook,

Based on the school district, safe environment, local businesses and taxes that aren't as bad as other areas you'll have a hard time finding an area just as good. Mastic,Shirley,Mastic Beach,Lake Ronk.,Ronkonkoma , etc...can't compare based on this criteria! The traffic is FAR worse in Centereach on 25 then in Selden unless you're talking about the border of the two towns.

Thats true.

The border is really the worst of it but 25 is a death trap out to Middle Island.

It all comes down to budget.
Id go North (or South) but as far as the middle of Brookhaven is concerned.
I prefer Selden to Farmingville or Centereach.

Dollar for dollar I do prefer Sound Beach, Miller Place, Ridge and Rocky Point.
JMHO.

If you go to towns south you either have a worse crime rate or much more expensive if by the water. If you go north it's just more expensive.

Not really.

You gotta shop smart on the North Shore but theres good buys to be had in Miller Place, Rocky Point and Longwood schools.

Theres some real nice areas to the South too.

See thats the whole thing.Miller Place you might find a deal but taxes are much higher.Rocky Point isn't as nice and Longwood has PROVEN to be a subpar district. I just moved away from the Longwood district. I lived in North Coram by the Pine Shopping center. If you can get Coram(North) but in Comsewogue or Middle country districts thats good(by Wedgewood).
