The area around the LIRR parking lot/ Main Street has many similarities to the Huntington Station area. Illegals and African Americans loitering everywhere on Main St. with possible MS-13 or Crips gang clothing. This area is like a plague spreading through the town affecting the QOL of Port Jeff Station/ PJV. Vagrancy and criminal activity is rising. Even though the area is a small section of Port Jeff it may end up becoming another Wyandanch or Brentwood.
It's ruining going "down port". I love it when North Suffolkians use that cool term..going "down port". Sounds like a toast by a group of winos..Everyone DOWN PORT now.
Anyway...PJS is just becoming another premiere area of North SuffDump...not that Port Jefferson is anything to write home about..couple of good restaurants and a lot of boring useless stores.

Blame the cops for that partially. "Down port" in the 80's, business was booming with alot of people window shopping. Then the cops started scaring people away. They complained about loitering, and jaywalking (and even ticketed some people) and people started to leave. Because of this, business started to drop off for many stores and now it is what it is today.
