Hmm..am I reading the maps wrong? It seems to me that the cancer is more common out east in Suffolk. A lot out by Manorville and the Hamptons. I'm getting worried now b/c my brother lives in Manorville and his zip code is 11949 which is mentioned as a neighboring area. Also, my sister in law resides in Ronkonkoma zip 11779 and that is mentioned as a high area for lung cancer. Very scary!

No, you're reading it correctly. I'd say quite a bit of suffolk, both north and south have higher than normal incidences of lung cancer. The biggest clusters of breast cancer are way out east. The numbers for colorectal cancer, especially for women were also disconcerting to see.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think I was reading it wrong but...you never know. I live in Kings Park and didn't see my zip code relating to any of the cancer zip codes given so I feel relieved to know that. I wonder if it's more common out east more b/c of the farms, etc. Yes, I do agree it's very scary and sad to see all of this.

not helping your cause, but a relative of mine passed away a couple years ago and she lived in this area her whole life. She passed away with cancer. Her aunt lived nearby and all 4 of her children had some sort of cancer. One recently passed away from brain cancer.
