what exactly do you think is wrong with the taxes? If the house is new, you'd have to show they made some kind of ridiculous mistake in calculating the taxes, as everyone knows taxes on new construction are sky high here on LI.
But your question is how to grieve? You can do it yourself by downloading the form from the Nassau County website or you can hire an attorney to do it for you.
circa62, you grieve your property's assessed value, not the property's property tax.
The property tax is the assessed value times the property tax rate in all the several taxing districts where your property is located.
