Today I find myself in possession of an older accordion which appears to be in good condition. I have no experience with accordions and would like to see if this is of any value, and if so, I would like to sell it.
Does anyone know of a reputable, honest person/store who deals in used, unique musical instruments? Suffolk county locations are preferred, but I am willing to travel.
V. Galiri Model 5462. Keyboard style accordion, bellows and body all appear to be in very good condition. It is in it's original case, with green velvet lining and a green velvet drape.
To be honest, selling an accordion is going to be tough - hardly anyone plays them (they weigh a ton) and there's really no call for them. I don't think Sam Ash or any other music store would give you a nickel.
Unless you want to turn it into some sort of yard ornament - you know, fill it with geraniums or whatever, or maybe you can use it as a unique garden sculpture (just my sense of humor).
I am sitting here looking at a huge accordion case and have no idea where to take it.
Do not take it to Sam Ash or GC. They will give you the absolute lowest price for a used instrument.
Did you check out other accordions buy the maker on eBay? I did a quick search for "V. Galiri" wiht no success but "E. Galiri" did return some results but they were all pretty inexpensive accordions.
Thanks for the input. I will have a picture later tonight. I looked on ebay unsuccessfully and didn't find much in the way of Google. There is a company in NJ which handles accordions so I emailed them a note. Waiting to hear back. I will try Boan's link as well.
I am a retired professional Triangle player. Sorry I couldn't help you.
