This looks like it might be a map (?):

I got it from this site:
Suffolk County Government - Online Maps (http://countyofsuffolkny.us/departments/planning/Cartography%20and%20GIS/Cartography/Online%20Maps.aspx - broken link)
There is also the Suffolk County Water Authority Suffolk County Water Authority
but I don't think they have that information
When I lived in East Hampton, we had well water and a cesspool. In Riverhead, we have Town water and a sewer.

Jennifer, that looks like a pretty accurate map. Just look at all the "gray" areas, and you'll have a good idea of where in Suffolk there are sewer systems.
You will see a huge area in southern Babylon--area residents voted "yes" on the sewer system in 1969, and taxes certainly reflect this. It took many years before a) the plant was built and b) everyone was hooked up.
A small part of Huntington Village also has sewers but currently, there are no plans on expanding the system.
My parents' house in Plainview had a cesspool like 15-20 years ago until they hooked into the sewer line. I was young back then and the poo-poo truck coming to suck out the yucky stuff was quite amusing.
Now I don't ever hear of cesspools anywhere in town. BTW, this is a pretty old thread to dig up.
Rockville Centre - sewers. I think all of the south shore of Nassau has sewers. Maybe the 5 Towns area still has cesspools?
