From what I read 2 State parks will be closing this Monday. The most ridiculous is Brookhaven State Park, a place I frequent quite often. According to what I've heard, gates will be going up and anyone seen in there will be asked to leave.
This park has no restrooms, no facilities, so what's the point of a gate and patrols to keep people out. Its almost as if to spite Long Island.
I urge anyone who is available Monday to go for a walk in Brookhaven State Park, enter any way you can, and refuse to leave when asked in protest of the closure. Because thats exactly what I'm doing.

If they stop maintaining the grounds and someone hurts themselves and goes to sue the town, they will be liable. It's pretty simple.

Well, I dont sue anybody over that. If I fall or get hurt, its my fault. Unfortunately there are those that seek to be greedy and ruin it. Either way I'm still going to Brookhaven, closed or not. The ball is in the state's hands as to be a jerk about it or not. But you can bet any encounters I get go up on Youtube. Kinda ridiculous to spend $500,000 on police to keep people out than $500,000 on park maintanance.

I'll still be in Brookhaven at least once a week.
The state of NY can kiss my arse.

Yep I know -- I wouldn't sue over my own mistakes but you and I know there are idiots that will.

Unfortunately, the takeover of private land by the government that has taken place over the past many years under the guise of "preservation" is comming home to roost. The state has gone into massive debt to purchase "open space". They have taken many properties off of the tax rolls, thereby decreasing revenue, have gone into debt, and now do not have the funds to run them. I don't see how this benefits the public.
