An interesting thing has just been sparked up in LA and that is LA's chances of hosting a World's Fair. What...? Is a World Fair your asking? Well... let's say it's an event that gave birth to various landmarks around the world and has also given numerous other cities sophisticated cultured and international hubs and various other institutions. The world fair has already been in cities such as New York, San Francisco, San Diego, San Antonio, etc. so why not LA? Paris was home to one of the most prestigious world Fair and was seat at which the Eiffel tower was born. In today's society it seems that people of this generation have forgotten all about the world fair, well they still go on and currently now in 2010 Shanghai is currently hosting a world Expo. After a failed attempt to bring the 2016 summer Olympics to Chicago America world like to try and host another global event on it's own soil so why not LA. Share your opinion on how you think a World Fair's could benefit LA economically and as a city.

Here's a link for you if you still don't know what a World Fair is:Expo (exhibition) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Default It's slow going

A 2020 world's fair in the United States I think has a good chance of happening. It seems to be slow going right now, but there's more interest in a world's fair for 2020 than there has been since our last world's fair in 1984. Problem is, bidding opens up next year (and most Americans don't even know what a world's fair is or if they do that they still go on). But with enough support, I think the United States (and Los Angeles) has a golden opportunity to host a world's fair in 2020. All I can say is tell people about a U.S. 2020 world's fair. Otherwise- how are they ever supposed to know?

A world's fair is a large international event where the world comes together to showcase technology, culture, and goodwill. Organizers of the 2010 World's Fair in Shanghai (which opened last month) describe world's fairs as "Grand events for economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges, serving as an important platform for displaying historical experience, exchanging innovative ideas, demonstrating esprit de corps and looking to the future."

World's fairs have been going on for about 150 years, and in that time the United States hosted more fairs than any other country- more than 30. Our last fair though was way back in 1984, and unfortunately many Americans don't know what world's fairs are any more even though they still go on around the world.

You may recognize some American world's fairs- the 1964 New York World's Fair was where Walt Disney debuted Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln as well as "it's a small world." The 1939 New York World's Fair is considered the most famous and iconic of the world's fairs. The 1984 New Orleans fair was the last to be held here in the U.S. The world's fair is a huge international event.
