Too far of a commute? Are you joking? That is a dream commute. I used to commute from Venice to Burbank; now that was a long commute.

MM to Venice is not a long commute, especially when you compare it to other commuters in town. If you find something you like in the MM area, then I say take it.

it's only 7 miles or so, so it is doable via bike. Fairfax isn't the easiest road to cycle on, but venice blvd is a breeze and has a bike path all the way to the beach. he'd even have a nice tail wind on the way home.

I've tried. But really I think it'll be okay. We've found some decent options elsewhere and don't have to make any decisions until closer to when we move (sometime towards the end of the year), so if a place in MM is the only option he might go for it then.

And Fairfax, while a decent street to bike, is far from ideal. Problem areas include Wilshire and 3rd St/the Grove.
