DC is definitely not more comfortable than California in the summer. I was just there last month, and you know what, it was well above the 90s...let's go for over the 100s with high humidity. You'd start sweating just by standing around. That's not what I call comfortable. I couldn't wait to get back to California where the humidity is nothing to worry about.
and I lived there for 8 years. It is rarely above the low 90s. we can't consider a couple of days or even one season. Here we have awesome summers except for the humidity (yes, it sucks) but this summer, I would just as soon live in HELL as here, it couldn't be worse. From the eastern seaboard to Las Vegas the country has suffered under one of the hottest summers ever this year. I am talking overall and again, I will add, the humidity does suck.

You comparing this summer to overall is the same as if you had been in the east of mid-west, as far south as Texas this past winter: same thing only the other extreme. Dallas is doing well to get one snow storm a year, last year they had 3 that broke records, the same with DC and here in NWA. We usually get about 6 inches, we got about 3 or 4 ft. So, my point, you can't compare based on one or two years.

D.C. can be miserable, but no worse than SGV or SFV at thier hottest in Aug and Sept (most years). Now, enjoy your beautiful summe this season, cause you might get what we have had next year.

Nope, but I swear it wasn't bad the entire 8 years (well 71/2) There were a few awful days, nothing any worse or as bad as SGV..The worst is Texas in my opinion. I guess it is all in how you see things. D.C. (we lived outside of D.C.) can be humid but the temps rarely climb like most places we have lived. Like I mentioned in the post I just did, this year, here in AR has been horrible, but it isn't normal. Yes, it is humid, nothing like many places I will add. The places that are so bad are Texas, LA and the east coast from about So C. on down to Florida.

My opinion and I am sticking to it...

Yes, most do have cooler winters, that is my point if you really read it. Summers can be nicer some places, but they usually are followed by cold winters.

For those who like seasonal changes, there are lots of better places, for those who like sunshine and mild temps 10 months of the year SO CA is that. By the way, So Ca has better weather in my opinion than Fl.

Again, I will ask you, where I said Ca didn't have good weather? I think you misread or misunderstood what I was saying.

I'm sorry for putting you on the spot. I just thought it might be interesting to ask you. I didn't mean to imply anything.

I wouldn't say that people in LA are friendly overall. But they are not the most unfriendly either. I admit I used to complain a lot about the weather in LA. I will say that I agree with one of the previous posters and say what is wrong with the current weather now? It is supposed to be over 90 in Glendale today. And let's remember that we can get temperatures in the 90s in October and November as well. Not that that is a bad thing. If that's what someone prefers then this is one of the places they should be. The real problem in the summer months is the smog because it makes me cough. it is this same smog/haze that gave me chest discomfort a few weeks ago. And it is usually dry as a bone here in LA because we get almost no rain. But it does cool off at night here.

ok, I didn't think I was really on the spot, I just thought you misunderstood what I was posting. I was just saying there are places with better overall summers than L.A. again, short of seasonal changes, Ca can't be beat. Even Eureka with all the fog is really pleasant.

I would say the folks in So Cal are suprisingly friendly. I say suprisingly since it's crowded with crazy traffic, you make think otherwise....not very friendly, but impressive when it comes to friendliness.
Up in Vancouver (near where I live), suprisingly unfriendly.

I love it here too after 11 months! But as for the traffic- i know it can be frustrating on some routes but believe me it is faster moving than it is in London( a minimum 1 hour commute from most places if not more) where we used to pay at least 40% more for gas. You have to really recognise the green - ness of the grass here- we find it to be lush green in most patches compared to london life.

I imagine that extremes can be found in most US counties. In looking at Orange County, Newport Beach and Santa Ana are polar opposites, despite their proximity to one another. Agree, though, it is amazing.

Wowzers!

When leaving reputation, please fill in the comment area telling the recipient why you liked their post, and please sign it with your username!

For example, this would be a typical comment with my leaving +rep for somebody:

"I completely agree. Good post! ~Lovehound"

That way the person you repped can reply and maybe thank you. I know there's plenty of people who left me nice comments and I wondered who it was... Wished I could express my appreciation in a DM.

Of course if you want to be anonymous that's cool too.
