The population of the US is about 310 million. A billion is 1,000 million. So no, there are not a billion homeless in L.A.

There's homeless people all over LA, some living under freeway underpasses or other woody landscaped areas around freeways, parks and flood control areas. There are homeless people in almost every neighborhood, walking the days pushing shopping carts and looking for recyclables, spending the nights staying out of sight particularly out of sight of law enforcement.

There's homeless people of all ages from children all the way to the elderly.

There are probably HUNDREDS of people living this way now.

I know a guy that sleeps in his car, goes to 24 hour fitness to shower, change clothes, then work.

I've never asked why he doesn't get his own place. I figure this is a way of life for him until some chick feels sorry for him and lets him come live with her. Another thing, that's very common as well. Lots of lonely women in LA.
