I am considering a place in the Silver Lake area. One of my main concerns was access to Hwy 5 because I travel north often, and from what I can tell this is a pretty good location for that. Also looking for safe neighborhood.

Anyway here’s the situation –

1 large bedroom and private bath in a house share (gorgeous home) includes laundry room, storage space, 1 spot in garage, back yard. Also shared use of extra small bedroom for overnight guests or as an office space. I would try to negotiate rent between $1250 – 1400, which would include utilities, cable, cleaning 1x a month. House is fully furnished so all I need to bring is bedroom furniture (versus playing less for a private studio/1 br, but having to furnish more space).

I know it’s not a ton of information to go on, but what do think? Good deal or not?

Yeah, well what's the exact rent? If it's in that range, I think you got a pretty good deal.

True... though it would be good to know the exact area (nearest major intersection, for example) as well... judging by the home description given I presume its in one of the nicer areas of SL.

Rent would end up being about 1400 all in - near the intersection of Hyperion and Rowena (Ivanhoe/Silver Lake reservoir side)

Honestly, it depends on the roommate situation.

This^^^^^^^^^^and amenities/house condition I guess.

$1250-1400/mo seems to be an awful lot for a roomate situation. Lots of places you can get a one bedroom for yourself for less than that, even in Silver Lake.

But if its sharing an upscale house with a really good roommate, I can see where it might be worth it.

Just for reference, this is what I found in the 2500-2800 range(ie, 2 people paying what you are paying)

^Yeah, but this place has utilities, cleaning, cable, and most importantly, furnished. Also they have access to a small room for guests. I did think the price was high but there's a lot of perks.
