I am moving to the Los Angeles area. I'm looking for places that are safe for a 20 year old white female. I don't mind being a minority as long as it's a safe neighborhood. I don't need to be close to anything in specific (school, work, etc). My budget for rent is about $1200 a month plus utilities. I'd prefer to rent a house but I know that's probably not realistic. I am open to moving to anywhere within about 30 minutes from LA, but the closer the better. Is this at all doable, and if so, where?

Depends on what you like to do. $1200 is a one bedroom in many areas and a studio on the better parts of the west side of town.

If you can find a place that includes utilities that would be a plus.

Traffic runs the place, so a few miles one way or the other can have a big impact on your life.
