I'm looking at apartments in the Woodland Hills and Norwalk areas but I work in West LA (just on Sepulveda). I am used to commuting 45 minutes to/from work and am wondering what the traffic will be like for a commute from these areas. I am fine with taking backroads if it will save me time. Any ideas/suggestions?

1 hr plus from WH at rush hour. Longer from Norwalk. 30 -40 minutes at rush hour just from Norwalk to downtown.

Are there backroads that can be taken instead of 101? would that shave any time off the commute?

Both horrible drives with the Norwalk one being even worse. Why are you choosing between these two locations if work is in West L.A.?
