Unfortunately negotiations have failed and SAG is seeking approval from it's members to strike. While I understand their logic, I remember the many people who were out of work due to the writer's strike, not to mention multiple tv shows who's ratings dropped once they returned to the air. looks like Hollywood is going into a recession just like the economy is.

Hollywood was very prosperous for years now it is contracting just like the economy is doing right now

It really seems that the best thing to do would be for the Guild to request an extension of the latest contract for, say, two years. Hopefully at that point the economy will be in better shape and AMPTP will be more amenable to new terms. A SAG strike could lead to even more non-scripted ("reality") shows, or productions covered by AFTRA jurisdiction -- and hurt them in the end.

And the last thing we need is a slew of new reality shows taking over prime-time tv and making the disproportionate ratio of roles to actors even smaller.
