Since rainfall is almost rare in Los Angeles as of rest of Southern California (Especially during summer where it is bone dry for 5-6 months straight, if not longer); Do you sometimes miss rain and thunderstorms? When it rains, do you get happy and excited?

Once we had no rain for 2 weeks straight in my area, and I missed it. So I cannot imagine going 6 months or more without single rain drop. Rest of America is used to have rain at least once a week.

I born and raised in LA and never really thought about how little it rained here until I was older. I guess was it normal for one is no so much for someone else. In my mind as a kid, winter always meant rain, snow in local mountains and or snow in other parts of the USA. I always assumed summer meant no rain and lots of sunshine, and cool evenings all over the USA.

Now that I'm an middle age adult and have some experience living and visiting a few different parts of the USA I know now we live in a simi-arid region. I do like the rain and wish we had more days of it, but at the same time when I lived in Chicago and after living through a wet summer of hot days and often warm humid nights I'm not so sure where I like to draw the line of too much.

Perhaps the balance would be more than our average 14-16 inches per year. I'm thinking some where upwards of 25-30 inches and I'm cool, like when we have a El Niño wet winter.

Just wait till we get another El Niño winter - gah. The rain fell all day every other day for at least two months, around 1998 or 1999. The backyard was so waterlogged we could have had a RC regatta.

I enjoy the rain. Relaxing. Better than those hot days where your sweating with the window open(and electricity is expensive).

Save those days for when I want to go to the beach.. :[

2004-2005 was quite something to be a part of.

Seattle only had like 18" that year.

I drove down to LA yesterday via highway 101 and connected to 118 ad 210, there was heavy rain yesterday afternoon in Pasadena/Arcadia. Strange!

^^ That is so weird. The Bay Area has been INSANELY dry this year. For whatever reason, it appears that SoCal has gotten a lot more rainy days and different storms that have bypassed us. It's been a ****ty year to be honest up here. I wish we had more rain like we typically do. I believe SF gets 24 inches a year, and further north only like by an hour's drive they get more than 35. It's typcially so lush and green by spring, but everything looks very parched. It's been this way 2 years in a row

I'm scared for fire potential this year. I bet there are some sickos out there just salivating at all of the dry brush and waiting for Santa Ana season...

I enjoy the rain in the spring and summer months. It washes away a lot of collected dirt, dust and removes away the urine smell from animals or humans thats been lingering in certain spots for weeks or months.
