Sheesh, do they ever do the news without showing a live shot of the SM pier? What's the deal with that?

I have often wondered that myself.
Los Angeles is a huge place, and they continually show this one small piece of film constantly, as part of the weather reports.
Would be refreshing to see different parts of the southland instead of Santa Monica pier, and Long Beach all the time.

Bob.

I think these are where their weather cams are situated.

How about those LAX pylons? Because I really need to know what color they are today.

Yeah, that gets old too. I presume they show LAX since it's a major ingress/egress point and a major appurtenance to the area, but the pier seems too capricious. Instead of that, I'd show a shot of DTLA from the Hollywood hills, with a few flowers in the foreground, which seems more emblematic of the area than the SM pier.

Forget it, they will never show the Marathon refinery at sunset.

guess you LA people don't notice it but everywhere else BUT LA in so cal is pretty much ignored by the news stations. We in OC feel lucky if they mention us in the weather broadcast.
