My wife and I are getting ready to move to the Los Angeles area in the next couple of months. I will be working in Encino, and would like to live not more than 45 min from work.
Can someone please give me some Info on the cleanest and safest Cities in that area? I would like to stay West of the 405.

encino is nice, why not keep your commute to a minimum?

What cities? Do you mean what sections of the City of Los Angeles? Mapping L.A. - Los Angeles Times You could drive to another city (e.g., Burbank, San Fernando, maybe Calabasas; I realize two of those are east of the 405) in 45 mins. during rush hour, but not much further. If you want semi-rural, Topanga is someplace some like. Presumably you don't have an unlimited budget, so maybe you could say what it is (for buying or renting) and then people could suggest what they feel are the cleanest and/or safest neighborhoods within that budget. BTW, I assume you mean 45 minutes by car, not bus.

I think starting in the general area of Encino, and expanding outward, sounds like a start. Of course, your exact workplace location is important. Have you looked at real estate ads, including in the Los Angeles Times, and/or contacted a realtor at least to get ideas? You don't have to commit to one realtor yet. I hope you will make an exploratory trip before moving. Good luck.

Going to be renting at first until we get an idea of where we want to buy. The 45 min travel time is by car, taking into account heavy traffic conditions. I was also looking at Burbank, seems like a nice area.

Thanks for the help.

Woodland Hills is nice and safe... Calabasas as well. Are you looking to stay in the San Fernando Valley or is the Westside on the other side of the mountains also an option? The Westside is very upscale but living their will also drastically increase your commute time as you would need to take the 405 North.

I think that is just a little too far.

Yeah, I've been looking in the Woodland Hills area also, all the way out to Thousand Oaks. No, I don't need to stay in the Valley. But as far as reasonable distance to Encino goes, Calabasas on the west side, Burbank on the east, and Simi Valley northwest is about as far as I can go. I was even looking all the way up to Santa Clarita, but that is just too far.

there are plenty of clean and safe places in LA, your requirements are quite vague. what else are you looking for besides that and a <45 minute commute?
