Why do people say it isn't humid in LA? (Los Angeles: buy, living)

Are they just dumb dumbs? Right now, according to weather.com it is 72* with 81% humidity and a dew point of 66*.

puts us into the 'Somewhat uncomfortable for most people at upper edge' range

AKA

my legs sticking to my pleather office chair!

AND don't get me started on the Midwest and the South. Having lived in both places, I know it gets much more humid.

BUT it's not exactly dry central over here!

Because they have never lived here in the summer or winter and have no idea what they are talking about. They just read propaganda from booster sites or buy into myths.

I sure know how humid it can be here in the LA basin.

This has been an unusually humid Summer with a lot of tropical flow from the south.

It doesnt get that hot and humid in the LA area, often. This season it seemed more humid because of the monsoon. It generally stays in the mountains and desert but several times it crossed over more west and brought some rain locally like last weekend and the bigger thunderstorm several weeks back that hit mostly in the San Gabriel valley. We will get those very dry Santa Ana winds coming soon. I hope we dont get a big one like that last year in December which blew down hundreds of trees and knocked out power all over.

Probably because the average humidity in Los Angeles isn't high.

But yeah, this summer has been more humid than usual. Seems like summer started late too, I wonder what this winter is going to be like?

This was an unusually humid summer but also humidity has risen generally over what it used to be on average.

This winter is supposed to be a harsh winter for much of the country. Here's a brif quote from The Farmer's Almanac (overall the most accurate predictor): "
For the coming season, we’re predicting that winter will return to some – but not all – areas. We think it will be a “winter of contraries, as if Old Man Winter were cutting the country in half. The eastern half of the country will see plenty of cold and snow. The western half will experience relatively warm and dry condition. In other words, as in the political arena, the climate this winter will render us a nation divided."

Up until the last few weeks, there was no humidity in LA for the several years I was living there.

I don't know what's going on and where the humidity came from. Standing in the sun is bad enough, but the humidity will make you cringe.

Compared to the east coast, gulf coast, south and midwest in the summer, LA is not humid at all!

Try visiting Miami or Atlanta or DC in the middle of summer and you know what I mean!

Most of the year, SoCal is not humid. Even when it is somewhat humid, its usually not hot enough for the humidity to be uncomfortable. But August and September are typically hot and more humid than normal. This year has been particularly bad.

When is it going to cool down? I live in the Valley and am not enjoying the hot as hell desert sun beaming through my car windows. The sun here is more brutal than anything I experienced in Texas. It really burns.

The humidity is strong but still mild in comparison to what I was used to in Houston,TX. Go there is you want some sauna like humidity during the summer.
