I guess mass transit is very convenient. I can get stupid drunk and not have to worry about getting a DUI. But mass transit is also annoying at times with the crowds and delays. I guess I much more prefer to drive and have my own space. Nothing is worse than waiting for a train when its like an igloo or sauna.

To make it more accurate, I'd rephrase the above as:
"NYC is a better choice for many people who already are living in NYC."

Southern California, if it really has the political will to do so, can have great mass transit so that one doesn't have to drive everywhere. NYC will have a significantly more difficult time, even with great political will, making its weather much better.

Eh... there are many people who come to NYC every year and love it. It depends on your personal taste.

Are you talking about NY or LA? In NYC, if it's dinner or something late, you might take a cab home, particularly if it's the first couple of dates. Aside from that I don't think anyone really expects you to drive anywhere. If you're meeting someone after work, are you sitting in your car double-parked outside her midtown office waiting for her to come down?

I would live in NYC regardless of the weather, that wouldn't even be a factor for me. The weather here in LA is great, but I would gladly trade that for a more urban city.

NYC has actually a nice 4 season climate. Yes, winter last for 3 months, but it is often bright and sunny with light to moderate snowfall. During daytime when there is no wind, it's not that bad at all. Spring and Fall are similar to LA weather, but summer it could get hot and often humid.

Ok, lets be straight about something, Im not talking about transplanted NYers who worked in Manhatten and their entire social circle was in manhatten. Im talking about natives whose social circle and dating pool consisted of women that lived in the Bronx, brooklyn and Queens. Cabbing back to the those places can run you in the 30-40 dollar range. And then what if you lived in Queens and the woman lived in the Bronx, a cab ride aint happening.

Women that are "FROM" NYC unless they are a hoodrat, are not tyring to see the train at night after a date. They prefer an adult male who drives. Does that make more sense now? Did you grow up there btw?

Anyway, to the OP, u know whats the better place. Many people fantasize about going to NYC (for some reason i'll never understand) and then after several years of high rents, cramped apartments, filth and winter, they want out. You're decision is probably already made

And people crack me up with that "I love the 4 seasons crap". try waking up in the morning an hour b4 work, digging your car out of snow,, going back upstairs to shower off the sweat and then putting on work clothes, and then driving on icy roads. Or having rain every few days or temperatures near Zero. It aint that great.

Exactly! Same as me saying "Eh... there are many people who come to LA every year and love it."
Some genuinely love it, some say so after the local gangs put their gun against their head and make 'em. Of course I am kidding about the last part. The point is the old saying "different strokes for different folks". No point in comparing two things that can appeal to different people for different reasons, making either one a better choice.
