Woodland Hills job - What are best areas to stay with budget to $700k for 3 bed house. Kids would probably only be visiting in college holidays. For each of these areas what would likely commute times be. Thanks

Look on the Ventura County forum here for Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley. All about 15-20 miles away. Also, Calabasas, Lake Manor, and Topanga Canyon in LA County are nice, too.

Woodland Hills, 5-10 minutes
Calabasas, 10-15
Agoura Hills 10-20
Westlake Village 15-20
Thousand Oaks 20-35 (35 if Dos Vientos)
Oak Park 20

Since you don't need public schools, encino and Northridge/Porter Ranch are also nice. So is parts of Tarzana and Winnetka. All are less than 30 minute commutes on surface streets during Rush hour.

Most of the neighborhoods around Woodland Hills, especially to the west of Woodland Hills, are very nice. Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Calabasas, Agoura Hills are all nice.

All the above mentioned options are great. You can certainly stay within budget in Woodland Hills and it would probably offer the best commute.

The thing is, Northridge to Woodland Hills would be on surface streets like you mentioned, traffic signal after traffic signal. It's probably more stressful than bumper to bumper traffic. And, what would the benefit of Northridge be?
