Hello,
I'm a bilingual(Korean+English) asian female. I'm graduating soon with florida music teacher certification. Now I'm thinking about relocating to either CA or WA after graduation and I would like to know what are my chances of landing a public school music teaching job in ones of these states?
When I search the job openings at websites such as schoolspring.com or edjoin.org, I see a lot more postings from California than washington state. Is that means that my chances of getting a job will be better in California?
Since I've read a lot of negative articles and threads on the crisis of California's public education, especial music and arts, I'm confused about what it's really like.
I will appreciate any comments/advice.
Thanks!

I'm bilingual (chinese+english) asian male with BA, MA and CA teaching credential. I hunted for music (choral) jobs in public schools in 2003-2004. I sent out resume/application to every district in CA. Got 3 interviews. Got a part time job teaching ESL at a local community college instead for a few semesters. Now I'm a machinist/welder/fabricator and pretty sure i can retire before I turned 40.

If you're an instrumental teacher, you might have better luck in CA. Maybe you want to try WA.

California has laid off thousands of teachers due to state budget cuts.
