I just moved to LA from CT and thus far everyone here seems to be very tunnel visioned and not likely to say "hi" to a random person. In CT in seemed very easy to meet people. Before I moved here everyone told me that people in CA is "soo friendly". I haven't experienced that yet unless a middle finger in traffic is the West Coast version of "hello" any comments on this?

Yeah....where are you in LA? I have found everyone so nice....sure, there are a couple of people who seem genuinely grumpy but so far, in my travels downtown and here in SFV, everyone is so nice and friendly? I would say 98% of people who randomly pass me on the street at least give a quick smile/nod if not a quick 'hi'.

You will find friendly people and unfriendly people wherever you are in the world. That's just life.

do you smile or greet strangers first? i'm the type of person who will go to a restaurant alone with a book, and not read a page because i initiated a conversation with the diners at the next table. i have never been rebuffed.

Tell Mickey I said hello..just kidding!. I'm a pretty big guy, maybe people think I'm intimidating or something. I'll pay closer attention to it and comment after a couple of weeks.

Who told you that??

Many people in Los Angeles don't really care about your business and only focus on theirs. Thats one thing I really like about L.A. You don't have neighbors getting into your business or bugging you about anything. I say that "many dont care" and not "ALL" because some of those who do care spend time on this forum helping others with their circumstances. Maybe people wont say "hi" to you but why is that stopping you from saying "hi" to them?
