Hi!
We live in Charlotte, NC currently for 8 yrs, and recently have a job offer in Hawthrone, LA. I would like to know the best school districts for elementary age kids and fairly where are the decent suburbs with Indian population? With single income, what is a fair expense figure for a family of 4 in LA? Any input will be appreciated, thanks!

I cannot give you that much help with the figures...But what I can say that Hawthorne is a pretty standard--lower middle class area....with that said, I have found it charming in many areas...But being in the South Bay, you are closer to more nicer, family oriented areas like Redondo Beach, whcih is literally right down the street, and has great schools. Keep moving south on hawthorne blvd which is like the main thoroughfare for the south bay and you have torrance, which is very family oriented and has great schools too...Moving farhter west but still close to Hawthorne are the beach areas which are way more expensive and even nicer! And great schools. I hope this helps!

The Indian population in LA area is pretty disbursed, not highly concentrated in one area. The one exception is Artesia.

Culver City is not too far from Hawthorne and has good schools and is a nice area. Also, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes and El Segundo are places to look into.

But you need to give a budget for renting or buying a house for people to help you. Get ready for sticker shock. Real estate in LA is WAY more expensive than Charlotte.
