A lot of those people aren't LA residents.

When the Neo-nazis came to parade around downtown LA, they were from San Bernardino.

You haven't done a DC summer as of yet. The humidity will be brutal.

Anyone who comes from the east and especially the south always love the summers here. Sure Aug/Sept can be hot, but there is a cool down at night.

You will be a puddle in DC just walking those 150 steps in the summer.

When I first moved to Southern CA several years ago from NY I was happy and amazed that I could have the windows open at night in July and sleep with a comforter.

Hands down the best weather in the nation.
That's you, not me. I grew up in Louisiana and am looking forward to more humid summers. The dry air in LA killed my hair and I had bloody noses frequently. I dislike having to wear sleeves at night because the temperature drops so drastically from day to night. Brutal to you is comfort to me.

5%>$100,000
5.25%>$125,000
5.5%>$150,000
5.75%>$250,000

Notice the huge gap between 3k and 100k. That's a big bracket and encompasses a lot of people.

12.3%>$508,500
13.3%>$1,000,000

I'm sure most individual workers in California are going to be paying the same 9.3% you are paying. That 49.7k to 254k bracket encompasses the vast majority of people, even in California.

Obviously you are paying a lesser rate on your income before that 49k, but it is still going to be much, much higher than what Maryland offers. In MD I don't even bother with what gets taxed at 2, 3, or 4% since it's a negligible difference (about $130-ish), but in your case at 75k much of your income is being taxed at 4%, 6% (already higher than our highest), and 8% (which is still huge), and those dollar amounts ratchet up fast. You're still having 25k taxed at your highest rate.

You clearly did not comprehend my post. I said the additional "local income tax" puts the overall tax on my income higher in MD than in CA. Yes, comparing the state tax rates alone, MD was lower, which is why I chose to live in MD. When you add in the local tax rate of 3.2%, my income taxes due for the year is more in MD than in CA.

I love having fresh clean air too! From what I hear you have quite the pollution problem going on there
Who's "They"? Boring weather? C'mon now..who wants a "hot" Summer?..nope, you want it mild and that's SoCal weather. Branson? C'mon now! It's not just the weather, palm trees, scenery and beaches LA is a place where you DO things and if you're talented and qualified you'll thrive. "I hear this and I hear that" Please stop with the misnomers! You need to spend/invest time in LA to give a true analysis, If it's not for you great but, so, so, many folks do not "know" this city! Living there, I learned the backstreets to avoid the traffic at peak times for example. Yes, it's crowded but, there's a reason it's crowded stuff is going on 24/7..I live in N. San Diego with access to LA in 2 hours and live here only because I have a 6 yr old and want her to attend a particular charter public school and it's gorgeous but, other than that, I still make my way to see friends and will always love the "vibe" and energy of LA. a highly criticized and misunderstood city.

Ya..they love to slam LA! I lived in Austin for awhile and some not all of the native Texans or other out of staters couldn't help themselves about slamming "ghetto concrete LA" nice enough people but, talk about ignorance..they've never been to Malibu, Topanga Canyon, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades or even the South Bay and it was on and on..I just chuckled. Austin, TX now that "town" is overrated.

I amazed at the response the OP has received.. mission accomplished lol! But you still posted and implied how others felt about California (a pretty big state) and injected your opinion about your own environment in a previous post..indirectly of course
