Average rent for an apartment in a nice area of LA is like $1500 a month. Unemployment is among the highest in the country. What do you think?

I agree with this. I don't know which companies consider applicants from out of state equally with local ones, but probably not very many. You would need to be in a specialty. Real world you move and temp if you need, live with a roommate or get a chintzy apartment for a while (in LA this means 1000/mo). If you actually pay 650/mo for your car you could sell it and get a used Prius for a while too.

Not true on the rent at all.

OP, you said you have 6 months savings? I would say go for it. The only thing I would do something about is your $650 a month car payment. Find a less expensive car.

Good luck.
