Part of it is also just the mentality of people. They always seem to want to go to Hollywood. That's where the glitz and glamor is.

Once upon a time there was a club called Pelican's Retreat in Calabasas that drew people from far away. Then the owners stopped paying their taxes, the place got shut down, someone else bought the place, made the mistake of completely remodeling it like a "classy" club and it failed. It's been all boarded up for years.
