Can anyone shed some light on this area on the map? Safety, convenience, diversity, etc.? The location appears to be pretty central but is still quite a bit cheaper than the west side. Also be helpful to know how the commute is to UCLA

It's cheaper for a reason. I would specifically avoid the Mid City area, which is higher crime and frankly just not very nice and quite congested. Essentially, I would avoid the area south of Pico and east of Robertson Blvd. Miracle Mile / Carthay / Pico Robertson are much better areas.

If you still want to be in central LA, it's definitely better if you're able to find something above Wilshire Blvd.

I live on the right side of your little map and can tell you that the area you depict is a real mix. Million dollar homes, middle class homes, dumpy apartments, majestic apartments from early 1900s...we have it all.

Traffic is terrible however but I do like the fact that I'm just a mile away from the 10 fwy. Just have to time it right so I don't sit still on the freeway.

Area is very diverse.
