Has anyone else been hit?

Apparently the thief rolls under the car (they prefer suv's and trucks) unbolts or cuts through it in minutes and takes it to salvage yard for the precious metal inside of it. They get $150 and you get stuck with $1500 bill, and there's nothing to prevent them from doing so again...

Mine got taken 2 weeks ago. A week later I got an LAPD PR bulletin saying how crime has reduced 50% in the area, when I looked at their crime map I noticed that my report was not on that map. Then I started hearing from neighbors that theirs have also been stolen.

So... be on alert if you see someone under a truck or SUV and the hood is down and windows/doors locked

i've heard about this. apparently the inside of the cat. is plated in platinum which is makes it quite valuable to thiefs. personally, i think the cops should be looking into the scrap yards that accept these obviously stolen items. if they can stop the demand, supply will follow.

Was a big deal in the south bay a few months ago. The PDs held open houses for people to come in and have a serial number etched into their catalytic converters. I know they caught a few guys.

What did your car sound like without the cats?

Seriously, if they cut out the cat from under your car you are running with no emmissions, resonator or muffler.

Must have been very loud.

it sounded like a Harley... freaky when you expect a smooth engine sound.

I'm driving around looking under cars now
