The future Century City subway station (Santa Monica, Highland: high school, centers, train)

Just wanted to here some opinions on this one.

With the Purple Line subway getting extended from Western Avenue to the VA Hospital campus (though it'd be better off terminating at Bundy Drive, in my humble opinion), it looks like where the Century City station is still a pretty contentious topic.

(please correct me on anything here that might not be true.)

It's either Avenue of the Stars / Constellation Boulevard (in the "center" of Century City; better access to office buildings on all sides; not on a pseudo-freeway bordering a golf course; other option too far of a walk) or Avenue of the Stars / Santa Monica Boulevard (Beverly Hills preferred; avoids tunneling under the BH high school; much shorter distance to next stop at Wilshire / Westwood; just 1/4 mile from Constellation; less properties to tunnel under).

It looks like BH is going to fight Metro on this one and fight them HARD to not have the stop at Constellation and tunnel under their school.

For those of you who hope to ride this line in/around Century City when it opens - any preference on where this station should go or whether it even matters where it goes?

The Ave of the Stars and Constellation Blvd stop is clearly the better option as it will provide more access to offices & retail. As long as that stop does not mess up the alignment to have a stop at Wilshire/Westwood I would say go for that one.

Ave of the stars and constellation makes a lot more sense.

That stretch of santa monica blvd is already a pseudo freeway. Will century city eventually connect with lax?

Probably not in our lifetimes....but in theory the Crenshaw line (if built) would connect to the Wilshire subway. Not exactly sure which station but probably a good bit east of the Century City station.

It's a shame.

You'd think LAX would connect with west la, century city, downtown, long beach, etc. I wonder how many other major cities, population 3-5 million or more, don't have rail connecting with major business centers?

It's too bad they can't build some sort of bullet express way under the freeways. You could have normal traffic on the 405, 10, 110, then if it exceeds that, you send people on some kind of a bullet train under it. Esp on long commutes, like from the valley to downtown.

I was reading on wikipedia, the purple line in century city will open in 2026? And westwood, 2036? Isn't that kind of late. I wonder what the freeways will look like by then.

I've been reading up on the Crenshaw line and it looks like the ultimate goal is to get it to the Hollywood/Highland Red Line Station -- possibly through West Hollywood on the way up.
